I’m leery of even writing about this. I worry there is no way to write about it without being misunderstood or misrepresented. Yet, if this doesn’t get talked about, there is no way folks will understand. This is a warning to Christians of all ages and all places. It is a call to make sure we keep the main thing the main thing. It is not a warning against something that is a sin all by itself. Rather it is a warning that our enemy is taking what can be a good thing when kept in its proper place and trying to supplant the best thing. I hope I can remotely do this topic justice.

Did You See that Alabama Victory?
Wow!
What a game on Monday night, huh? Exciting.
What a victory for Alabama. I was so excited for them. It must feel so good to put such a victory under their belt.
Wait?! What’s that you are saying? Alabama didn’t win? But they had more points for 58 minutes of a 60 minute game. Surely that counts for something. They led the score for much longer than Clemson did. Surely that should matter more than what happened in the last few seconds of the game.
be RESOLVED: Introduction
be RESOLVED
Week two of 2017. How are you doing on your resolutions?
Jim Gaffigan’s take on resolutions to work out seems to be the norm for most of us on just about any resolution.
I’m one of those people whenever I do work out, I immediately have grand plans. You know: “I’m going to work out every day.” And then the next day I’m like, “Well, not every day. I gotta let my muscles breathe a little. I’ll work out every other day.” And then the next day I’m like, “Nah, I’m happy with the way I look. I don’t want to get caught up in that beauty culture.”

How To Rely on God’s Grace without Becoming a Calvinist–Irresistible Grace
Sorry it has been so long since my last post in this series. Lots of stuff going on over the past few weeks. But thanks for sticking with me as we examine why we don’t have to be so afraid of being accused of Calvinism just because we start talking about grace a lot more. Of course, there is a lot to be disappointed with in the tenet of Irresistible Grace. But just because we teach grace doesn’t mean we are teaching irresistible grace. Read on to find out more.

How to Rely on God’s Grace without Becoming a Calvinist: Atonement
No doubt, in any way considering the idea of the atonement as limited is a frightening concept. I’m certain I don’t even like to speak in those terms. However, recognizing that not every one receives atonement, I must learn I don’t have to be afraid of ever teaching any concept of an atonement that is limited to certain people. However, the biblical concept of the limitations of atonement are not remotely the same as the Calvinistic concept of Limited Atonement. So, I still don’t want to be a Calvinist. Read on to find out why.

How to Rely on God without Becoming a Calvinist: Election (Part 3)
Many of my non-Calvinist friends fear election. I’m not talking about that thing that happens every four years in America. I fear those too. I’m talking about the doctrine of God choosing the saved. There is no need to fear this term. Paul and Peter didn’t. Paul used it in Romans 9:11 and Romans 11:28. Peter used it in II Peter 1:10. We can use it too. The problem is with how Calvinism defines this term and explains it. I believe in God’s election of the saved, but I still don’t want to be a Calvinist. Read on to find out why.
