Unlearning the Bible: A Video

March 25, 2011 by Edwin Crozier 4 Comments

I was looking for a fun and funny video to do a Good Clean Fun post. I came across this one, which is fun for me. I love what Jack Crabtree says about how we should read the Bible.

Another Reason I Love God

March 24, 2011 by Edwin Crozier 4 Comments

I was humbled last night. I don’t know whether to make this post a family post because it had to do with my relationship with my kids or to make it about our individual spiritual lives because it taught me about my relationship with God. I’ll just tell you the story and let you draw your own conclusions.

The 5 Ways Monopoly is Too Much Like Our Lives

Last night I was privileged to hear a great sermon by Brian Anderson on “Proper Priority, Focus, and Perspective.” It was an excellent look at the rich fool of Luke 12:13-21. One of his illustrations was about life and Monopoly. I told him I had to steal it and share it.

Monopoly is a great game. It can provide hours, days, perhaps weeks of fun. But you can learn some important lessons about life from it too.

The #1 Key for Saving Souls

March 14, 2011 by Edwin Crozier 10 Comments

I am certain you want to be involved somehow in saving souls. I know you want your congregation to grow because everyone is involved in that work. But if you’re like me, you’ve been hindered by a faulty model and a slight misunderstanding of Jesus’ teaching. I am convinced that if we can undergo a slight paradigm shift, we will get rid of the #1 hindrance to saving souls and pursue the #1 key to getting the job done.

The 7 Appeals of a Seductress

March 7, 2011 by Edwin Crozier 1 Comment

I was looking out my window today and I saw a sad sight. A young and foolish man was being led by the nose to his death, but he didn’t even know it.

Okay, okay, I wasn’t actually looking out my window. I was reading about a father who was in Proverbs 7:6-27. This father was trying to convince his son to be intimate friends with wisdom instead of an adulteress. In this chapter, he explains the 7 appeals of the seductress. While this is written from a father to a son, the same points can be made to a daughter about the 7 appeals of a seducer. [Read more…] about The 7 Appeals of a Seductress

Radical: A Book Review

When a book has the word “radical” in the title, you can expect to be challenged. When a book is entitled Radical, you can expect to have your feet kicked out from under you. That is exactly what David Platt accomplishes with his book, Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream. [Read more…] about Radical Challenges and Radical Mistakes: A Book Review
