“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him…”
–Philippians 3:7-9 (ESV)
How can I say I am willing to suffer the loss of all things for the sake of knowing Christ if I will not even suffer the loss of one hour of tv to be in His Word?
How can I say I am willing to suffer the loss of all things for the sake of gaining Christ if I will not even suffer the loss of one hour of sleep to meditate on God, His Word, and His will? (cf. Psalm 63:6)
How can I say I am willing to suffer the loss of all things for the sake of being found in Christ if I will not even suffer the loss of one hour of relaxation to pray?
God, forgive me!

No worries, Edwin. You are saved by grace – not by your performance of the spiritual disciplines. Look to Christ – stop looking at your inability to live the Christian life – all you’ll see is corruption.

Hi, Zenas. It’s been a long time.
This post wasn’t intended to question whether I’m saved. It was intended to question how delighted I am with Jesus versus more temporary distractions.
